A Guide to Choosing the Perfect Storage Unit Size

  • Assess your storage needs:

Take inventory of the amount of items you have and how many you need to store. Count your boxes and create a list of all the items. Evaluate the size, shape, and quantity of the items that you truly need to store. Use this information to estimate the size of the storage unit you require. Make a note of any larger or oddly shaped items. Also, consider if any items require climate-controlled storage units.

  • Maximize the space:

Refer back to your inventory list. Will you primarily store boxes? Are your items easily stackable? Do you have large furniture that needs to be accommodated? Keep in mind that most storage units have a height of 8 feet. Therefore, when organizing your belongings, make use of vertical space and stack items upwards.

  • Calculate the required space:

If you're still uncertain about the size you need, gather all your belongings in one place and measure them using a tape measure. This will help you accurately calculate the appropriate storage unit size, ensuring that you don't end up with an incorrect size.
